Beavers (6-8years old)
Our beavers belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between six and eight years old. Young boys and girls can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between seven years and six months and eight years six months.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.
We have two Beaver Scout colonies, both following the same programme, and each meeting on their own evening once week during term-time. For more information on time, please contact the leader shown at the bottom of the page, or just contact us.
Beaver activity and skill badges
There are a range of badges and awards available to young people in the Beaver Scout Section.
Activity badges
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Beaver Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.
Challenge badges
Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Colony or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.
Core badges
In addition, there are a number of core badges, obtained upon joining or moving on from the Colony, or for time spent in the Scouting movement.
